FAQs

Are you insured for commercial property work?

Yes. We carry $2,000,000 in liability insurance and workers’ comp on every job. We are happy to provide proof of insurance before any work begins.

Are you insured?

We carry up to $2 million in liability insurance. Tree work can be dangerous, but our safety-first culture and comprehensive coverage give you total peace of mind while we are on your property.

Can you handle large-scale tree removal on commercial properties?

Yes. Our CMC 83HD+ ArboPro lift reaches 83 feet, and we have crane access for complex situations. We regularly take on large removal jobs that other crews do not have the equipment to handle safely.

Do I need to be home for the estimate?

No, as long as we can access the yard, we can leave a detailed quote for you.

Do you need permits to remove trees on commercial property in Indianapolis?

In most cases, no. However, there are exceptions. Properties located in historic districts, particularly in older neighborhoods closer to downtown Indianapolis, may have additional requirements. Some HOA communities also have their own rules about which trees can be removed or modified. We are familiar with these considerations and can help you navigate them during the estimate process.

Do you partner with landscaping companies for overflow tree work?

Yes. We work with landscaping and lawn care companies throughout the Indianapolis area as a subcontractor for tree jobs that require specialized equipment or crew. If you have a client with a tree job that is outside your scope, call us.

Do you require payment upfront?

No, we never ask for a deposit or upfront payment. We believe in earning your trust, which means payment is only collected once the job is complete and you are 100% satisfied with the work.

Do you work with HOAs on ongoing maintenance contracts?

Yes. We work with HOA boards and property management companies to set up scheduled maintenance for common areas. Fall and winter are typically the best times to get on the schedule for the upcoming year.

How quickly can you schedule a commercial job?

Most commercial jobs are scheduled within 10 days of estimate approval. If you have a specific deadline or urgency, let us know when you reach out and we will do our best to accommodate it.

What happens to the wood and debris?

We haul everything away and rake the area clean. We can also leave wood for firewood if requested.

What is included in your commercial tree service quotes?

Everything. Your quote includes all labor, equipment, cleanup, and debris hauling. There are no separate charges added after the job. What we quote is what you pay.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Broken Oak did a great job trimming a Magnolia tree, Japanese Maple, and several large birch trees around my home. They stopped by and gave me an estimate the same day I called. They completed the work in less than week from their quote and did a great job without causing any damage to my home or yard. They were very knowledgeable about what needed to be done and have a certified arborist on staff. Kyle was very professional and easy to work with!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I have used Broken Oak a couple of times now to trim trees and remove yard waste. They're terrific. Incredibly responsive to email and text, they gave me a quote I requested the same day, and they were very accommodating of my schedule. The trimming looked great and they removed every single stray branch from my yard. I could not be happier and will use them for all my tree needs moving forward. Highly recommend.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I needed a tree trimmed in my front yard that was too close to my house and encroaching on my neighbor's yard. Kevin responded quickly to my inquiry and came out right away to provide me with a quote. I got on their schedule quickly, they did excellent work, cleaned up my yard when they finished, and did everything for a reasonable price. Last month, the same tree was damaged in a recent storm, and a major branch was split in two. Kevin came out the same day, and his crew took care of it two days later. I highly recommend this company!

I want to leave a review for this business for the outstanding job they did. From the time I first contacted them till the very end everyone was wonderful. Their communication and service was outstanding. Kevin contacted me shortly after I called asking for a quote on a tree removal and came immediately to answered all my questions and provide me an estimate. The crew came the same day I accepted the quote. Zak, Chris, Andy, and Tee came and did a fantastic job cutting down the tree and ensured the area was cleaned up after the tree was cut down. They even helped me remove some plants I wanted to save that was around the tree. Larry the stump grinder came by about a week later to grind the stump. I was so impressed with the work of this business that I will use them again and recommend them to anyone who needs work on their trees.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Avoid Broken Oak Tree Service – Unreliable and Negligent

If you’re considering using Broken Oak Tree Service in Indianapolis, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. This company has proven to be completely unreliable.

For over a year, they have been aware of a tree that needed to be removed at 1508 North New Jersey, with a sign posted and everything. Despite having all this time to take care of it, they and the owner of the home have yet to even start the process. Meanwhile, the tree has continued to pose a serious risk, causing damage and creating unnecessary hazards.

Because of their negligence, I had to have someone else to come out and trim the tree just to prevent further issues. It’s completely unacceptable that a company that claims to specialize in tree removal would leave a job sitting this long, especially when it’s actively causing problems.

If you need tree services in Indianapolis, I strongly recommend going with a more responsive and professional company. Broken Oak Tree Service has failed completely in communication, reliability, and follow-through. Save yourself the frustration and hire someone who will actually get the job done.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We were very impressed with the professionalism of Broken Oak Tree Services and highly recommend them. We had several large pine trees planted too close to our home that needed be removed. Broken Oak was recommended to us by a neighbor and we are so glad they did! Our trees were skillfully removed with ease. We also had them raise the canopies and prune other trees too. They were incredibly respectful of our property - our home and all our surrounding plants were cared for and not damaged. The crew worked efficiently and left behind no mess. Kyle and Kevin responded promptly, worked with us on our scheduling requirements, and were so easy to work with in our experience. We had a giant old rotting walnut that had dropped big limbs twice nearly damaging the house. We didn’t want to take the whole tree down because a family of squirrels lived in it. The team came out and removed dangerous limbs and balanced the trunk, preserving the squirrel nest, giving us a few more years with it. They cleaned EVERYTHING up, trimmed a few additional trees, and were done within an hour. Cherry on top- absolutely no damage to the surrounding landscaping and plants. Highly recommend!!

They were able to trim them back and drop the trees in a safe place for me to later cut and use for firewood. They made the process look so easy and cleaned up the area, all while respecting the areas they worked in! Great job and highly recommend!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This has to be the most efficient and professional service I've ever had performed as a homeowner.

From initial conversation to removal was a matter of days not weeks. I can not think of a time where I was more happy with a provider.

They responded quickly to my inquiry and had an estimate to me within 2 days! They were the most economical choice and their work was excellent! The tree was in a challenging location, but they were able to get the job done and the clean up was amazing! I highly recommend!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had a big silver maple removed and other large trees trimmed. It was kind of a big deal for us. They had to take down part of our fence to get the bucket truck in the back yard. The crew worked very hard to make sure they didn’t damage the fence or the yard. Afterwards, they put the fence back up like they found it and cleaned up all of the mess. The team was professional, courteous and responsive to our requests. I highly recommend this company for any of your tree trimming or removal needs.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. They removed 4 large arborvitae’s, trimmed/cleaned up a willow and plum tree. They were timely, professional, cleaned up afterwards well and stuck with the price they quoted me. Would absolutely recommend and will use for any tree services we need later!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Highly recommend Broken Oak Tree Service. Kyle was very helpful and knowledgeable, giving us several options after a major limb broke off from a large tree in our front yard. We opted to take the tree down as well as a dead pine in the back yard. They were able to come the next day. The crew worked like a well oiled machine and had the trees down, stumps ground and everything cleaned up and removed in less than three hours.
Very professional. I’m happy to give them 5 stars.

The difference in appearance before & after was outstanding. He and his crew arrived on time and were very polite, courteous and professional. Their clean up of debris was excellent and they completed their work without any damage to grass or landscape areas. I would certainly use them again and recommend them to others.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I can't recommend this company enough. They are on time, reasonably priced, and professional. They cut down a dogwood tree that was next to our house a couple of years ago that had landscaping around it. You couldn't even tell they cut a tree down. The landscaping was in perfect condition. Recently had them cut down a 55 foot tree that split apart after a storm for a great price.
Remarkable cleanup after the tree and branches were cut down.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We've used their services multiple times, and each time they've been super responsive and done a great job. They've trimmed back very large trees, removed dead trees, and given sound advice on what to take off and what could be left. I very much appreciated the approach of saving as much of the tree as possible while cutting off what needed to come down in order for the tree to flourish. Would absolutely use them again.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I spent most of a day watching this team complete a challenging job.  Broken Oak protects its employees by taking safety seriously.  Communication was spot-on and they arrived when expected.  They understand advanced rigging techniques, execute carefully, and leave the area clean.  I also appreciate that they take time to blow debris from the top of their truck before traveling.  If you wish to support a business that works hard to earn your trust, look no further.  They exceeded my expectation and have my gratitude.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had a neighbors tree fall into our yard. Our neighbors had contacted a different company that was supposed to get a quote back to me about a week after they came out and never did. I called Kyle and Kevin at Broken Oak, they came out the next day and had a quote to me the day after that, even over the weekend. They were onsite a few days later, removed the tree in it’s entirety, and were able to avoid any additional damage from the tree coming down. All at the agreed upon price. They even removed the portion that was on my other neighbors yard.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Kyle and his Team including Kevin from Broken Oak Tree Service have demonstrated their knowledge and admiration of trees to me, I’m a customer for life! They responded within a day to my request for a quote, Kevin came out to review our weather damaged trees, spent time to talk about the options and provided a fair quote and scheduled a date. They moved up the planned work date due to the weather damage and this made me happy as huge limbs were on our yard. They came out on time, pruned up our trees and made them look balanced and beautiful as they once were. Our goal was to save the trees and we did just that! We did not want anyone just to cut down and remove a tree they saved our trees! Thank you I will pass their company details to my friends as I trust them and their knowledge and expertise on tree pruning and professional approach to the work. Thank you Kevin thank you Kyle and team!!! By the way their quote was almost half of another service I called and had used in past years. I will stay with Broken Oak Tree Service for future work!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Kyle and his crew took down a 60+ foot ash tree that was just a few feet from my glass sun porch. He did an outstanding job and it is hard to imagine how he could have done a better job. He and his crew are safe, reliable, hard working and great to get to know. I will definitely look to use Kyle and his crew for future tree removal jobs. Thank you Kyle and crew!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Kyle and his team did an amazing job! I had a dying mulberry tree that was working its way onto my neighbor's roof and a small dead oak tree. He was quick to come out for an assessment and provided an honest appraisal and quote within an hour along with his insurance info.
His communication was top notch and he was very flexible. Job was done within the same week. I can't even tell he or his team was there!
I HIGHLY recommend contacting Kyle Keith at Broken Oak Tree Service for any of your trees' needs.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Broken Oak Tree Service was awesome. Kyle was easy to communicate with, professional, and provided a quick estimate for the removal of a gigantic limb that was hanging over a fence and had landed in another tree. It was way cheaper than any of the other quotes I received. Kyle was accommodating when issues with my house closing pushed back the work date. When we did get the job rescheduled, I couldn't have been happier. The tree looked great, the backyard was cleaned up, and both the fence and the other tree had been saved. I'll definitely be calling Kyle if I need any other tree work completed.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We have used Kyle and his crew a few times for tree removal/trimming and stump grinding and are always impressed with their work.

Kyle is fantastic to work with, communicates very well and prices his work reasonably. Kyle and his crew have gone above and beyond each time they've completed work on our property and exceed our expectations with each job.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Kyle and his team are great. He provided a quote last night and trimmed the tree and cleaned everything up this morning just like he said he would. You don't get that type of service very often. The price he quoted was very reasonable. He also gave me some free advice on how to get rid of some pesky bushes that keep coming back. I would recommend this service to anyone needing tree work done!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Kyle & his crew did a great job trimming low-hanging branches from a very large tree that was encroaching on our house. They took the time to make sure no damage occurred to the house and they cleaned up everything. The cost was VERY reasonable compared to other estimates we obtained. Highly recommend!!!

An update: There was a branch that was hanging over our driveway and Kyle came by and cut it back for us at no charge. This happened today (May 22, 2019) even though he did the original trim last summer. We are VERY appreciative to have someone with this level of detail to the job.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Kyle and his crew are EXCELLENT. We called him on Monday, and he came over on Tuesday to take a look and give us an estimate. VERY REASONABLY PRICED. And they do great work. He and his crew took down a 150-yr old oak tree which was leaning over a bridge, and made it look like easy. They also took down six other mature trees on our property. Kyle is genuinely interested in taking care of the customer. I highly recommend Broken Oak if you have trees which need trimmed or dropped. We will call him back when we need additional tree work done.

Every experience I've had with Kyle and Broken Oak has been delightful - he's flexible, reasonable, and skilled, but also makes you feel safe and confident in the work. Having a crew of guys working around your home can be an unnerving experience, but the Broken Oak crew are all friendly guys who do good work!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Kyle was amazing to work with. Very prompt response, great communication, showed up on time and they worked well into the dark of night finishing the job. We had 3 large maples removed, several smaller trees and our remaining trees trimmed. Everything was removed and completely cleaned up. They had a piece of equipment malfunction on the last tree they were trimming and could not finish, Kyle drove a considerable distance to trim the last tree a few days later. The pricing is competitive and he is honest if he does not know something about a tree and encouraged me to seek a professional opinion. We surely recommend Broken Oak Tree Service!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had three 30-foot trees that needed to be cut down and one very large maple tree that needed to be trimmed. Kyle, assessed the situation, brought in his group of professionals and started work. The large maple tree posed a couple challenges that concerned me. The tree was located only four feet from the house with many windows facing the tree. The tree also had many limbs that were larger than some trees. I was concerned about my roof and the windows. Each limb was thoroughly secured before it was cut and gently lowered to the ground without touching either the windows or the roof. All the debris from the trees was raked and removed from my property so I didn’t have anything to do when they were finished. I have asked Kyle to come back for some additional stump removal.

If you need any trees removed or cared for, reach out to Broken Oak - you won't be disappointed!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We’ve been in our house for 30 years. We decided it was time to take out our maple in the front yard. We recommend Broken Oak Tree Service out of Fortville. Kevin Wright and his team were excellent! They were even able to grind the stump and get rid of our Indiana root ball at the maple’s base. Very clean sight when done. If you need help with your trees call Kevin!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Broken Oak gave a competitive price on removing a very tall tree near my house. Kyle followed up to see if I had any questions about the quote or service. They had the job done within two days of my hiring them. They also sent updates and pictures to me throughout the process since I could not be there. A+ service from this company. I highly recommend them.

Broken Oak Tree service is the best tree company to work with. We had a very large dead ash tree that was very close to our home. It was a very strategic process. They are very well experienced and affordable. We will be using them for all our tree needs in the future. Highly recommend!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Broken Oak did an awesome job for us! We had a big job, several dead trees and a tree line of scrub brush and they made fast and efficient work of it! They provided an estimate quickly and remained very communicative throughout the process, including day of arrival time. The team onsite was meticulous with clean up and conscientious of both neighbors and our property. From start to finish, we could not be more happy. Recommend 1000%!!!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Broken Oak Tree Service took care of an issue with dead ash trees that were looking like they were about to drop on my garage! They were able to trim them back and drop the trees in a safe place for me to later cut and use for firewood. They made the process look so easy and cleaned up the area, all while respecting the areas they worked in! Great job and highly recommend!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.

I had Big Oak remove 2 large trees and remove 3 smaller trees. I had asked them to cut into firewood size peices and stack on my fence line. They stacked all cut wood on fence line and cleaned up all debris. My 2 big trees were next my power lines coming to my home, Kyle helped me get a hold of IPL to have removed for the day then once they were at a certain point Kyle the owner called and had IPL come back. I would Big Oak for all tree/brush work I ever have.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Kyle and his crew are not only extremely knowledgeable but also extremely personable, and that makes such a huge difference!
